Ecosystem

P3Dx is building a strong, multidisciplinary innovation ecosystem to bring together knowledge, innovation, and practice. Companies, knowledge institutions, and public health institutes work together on technological innovations and on creating the right preconditions for them.

This ecosystem bridges the gap between the test innovations that will help society respond to the next pandemic and the opportunities those innovations open up for non-pandemic applications. It connects experts in test development with parties that need innovative testing methods.

Successful innovation is a team performance. Developing test innovations involves many different themes: laboratory development, clinical studies, sample acquisition, validation, commercial strategy, quality control, manufacturing, intellectual property, and regulation. Many of these themes are dynamic and change over time. Keeping up with all the new information is already difficult during a regular development trajectory — let alone during a pandemic.

Through this ecosystem, P3Dx is strengthening the infrastructure that will allow innovative testing methods to be deployed faster in a future pandemic. During pandemics, the ecosystem collaborates effectively. Outside of pandemics, it prepares so that it can respond adequately when new threats emerge.

P3Dx aims both to make relevant data sources easier to access and to ensure that experts and their knowledge are available, both in pandemic and non-pandemic times. P3Dx is doing this in two ways:

  1. By building a database with relevant documentation — for example regulations, biobanks, and validation protocols. Startups and other innovation partners can consult and search this database via an AI-driven tool.

  2. By creating and maintaining a network of experts with relevant knowledge and experience. This network will come together, collaborate, and exchange knowledge — both in pandemic and non-pandemic times.
